More than half a century ago with Carmelo Giardina’s arrival from Italy the production of table grapes and vegetables begins, as well as with the first exports of fresh fruit.
Benito Giardina, Carmelo’s son, makes the first package of the firm, starting the commercialization of fresh fruit in the markets of Buenos Aires with the brand “Frutas Giardina”, being his son Rubén and Roberto Picó (actual partner) the ones in charge of transporting it.
In the 1980’s, the planted surface in General Alvear increases, reaching 130 net hectares, with 80% of pears and 20% of apples, peaches, nectarines, apricots and plums.
The firm “Frutas Oeste” is founded and with it, in the Alto Valle de Río Negro (the High Valley of Río Negro), the task of selling fresh fruit not only in Argentina but also in Brazil begins.
Nowadays, a new generation of young professionals becomes part of the firm, giving birth to “Giardina Hnos. SRL”. Our company has the capacity to produce 4000 packages per day in the Alto Valle and 4000 packages in General Alvear, be it with our own fruit or with other producers’.
Extending our commercial destinies within the country as well as abroad constitutes our primary goal.
